Cowgirls Compete in Main Draw

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Oklahoma State women's tennis opened play in the main draw of the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships on Thursday.
The No. 36 Cowgirl duo of Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari began the day in doubles, where they faced Kiah Generette/Blair Shankle of Baylor in the round of 32.
The Cowgirls battled throughout the match, before falling to the Bears, 8-3. Tur Mari and Lushkova will return to doubles action on Friday in the main draw consolation.
"After several good days of tennis this week, today was not to the level we expect, but I am confident our girls will respond well tomorrow and finish strong," coach Chris Young said.
In singles action, No. 12 Lushkova took part in one of the most intriguing matches of the first round against No. 15 Taylor Davidson of Stanford. The Cowgirl fell just short of taking a close first set, 6-4. Davidson won the match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.
Lushkova will return to action on Friday, as she continues singles play in the consolation draw at the Riviera Tennis Club.
