PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Oklahoma State women's tennis continued play in the ITA All-American Championship qualifying on Wednesday at the Riviera Tennis Club.
The Cowgirls opened the day with a doubles victory from No. 36 pairing Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari against Daneika Borthwick/Yukako Noi of Florida State, 8-5.
The victory moved the Cowgirl duo on to the final round of qualifying, where they defeated No. 40 Marie Norris/Seda Arantekin of TCU, 8-3.
With the win, Lushkova and Tur Mari advance to the main draw of doubles play on Thursday, where they will face Blair Shankle and Kiah Generette of Baylor.
"Our girls have had a good start to the fall and our doubles play has been outstanding so far," coach Chris Young said. "I'm excited for Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari to play in the main draw, they've been playing excellent tennis."
No. 12 Lushkova will begin play in the main draw of singles action on Thursday. The Cowgirl All-American will take part in one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament as she faces No. 15 Taylor Davidson of Stanford in the first round.
"Viktoriya is one of the best players in the country, so she will have an opportunity to do well in singles also," Young said.
The No. 35 tandem of Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic fell in a tough match in the doubles round of 16 to Generette and Shankle of Baylor, 8-5.
Cowgirl senior Kelsey Laurente fell to Caroline Brinson of Georgia in her second match of the consolation bracket in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
