2015 Big 12 Cross Country Championships Live Results
STILLWATER – After completing a perfect regular season, the Oklahoma State cross country program focuses on the postseason, beginning with the 2015 Big 12 Cross Country Championships.
For the first time in five seasons, Stillwater will host the Championships at the OSU Cross Country Course. Eight men's teams and nine women's teams will converge in Stillwater, as dozens of athletes race to hoist the team and individual trophies.
The Cowboys come into the Championships as the highest nationally ranked team in the conference at No. 6, while the No. 23 Cowgirls only trail No. 11 Iowa State, the program that has won the team title in each of the past four years.
Despite three top-three finishes in the last five seasons, the Cowgirls will be seeking their first Big 12 title in school history. As for the Cowboys, a win on Saturday would give them eight straight and extend the second-longest win streak in conference history, trailing Colorado's dominating 12 straight wins from 1996 to 2007.
Cowboy sophomore Cerake Geberkidane comes into the race unbeaten in three races, including two wins at his home course in a 5K at the Cowboy Preview, and an 8K at the Cowboy Jamboree. Newcomer Josh Thompson has also been impressive for the Pokes with his three top-10 finishes this season.
Ingeborg Loevnes and senior Natalie Baker headline the Cowgirls' lineup. The two have combined for five top-10 finishes, three of which were in the top-three. Baker stormed back from the middle of the pack at the Crimson Classic to take second back on Oct. 16, and Loevnes caught the attention of the conference and the country after winning the Cowboy Preview and finishing third in the Cowboy Jamboree in just her first cross country season.
The 2015 Big 12 Championships are scheduled to begin Saturday at 10 a.m. The men's 8K race will kick things off and the women's 6K race will follow at 11. The awards ceremony will follow both races at noon. Results and a full recap will be available at okstate.com as well as big12sports.com.
