Cowgirls Finish Day One of ITA Qualifying

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State women's tennis team completed the first day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Qualifying tournament in Los Angeles, Calif. on Saturday.
Senior Cowgirl Kelsey Laurente captured two singles victories in the pre-qualifying round at the Riviera Tennis Club. The Cowgirl's first victory came in a three-set match against Tami Grende of Washington, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (1). Laurente picked up a second win later in the day against Ashvarya Shrivastava of New Mexico State in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
Katarina Adamovic dropped a tough match during the singles portion of play. Adamovic battled Kattherine Ip in a thrilling three-set match, before falling 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.
The Cowgirl duo of Kelsey Laurente and Maria Alvarez dropped a heartbreaking doubles match in the pre-qualifying round to Laura Gulbe and Dzina Milovanovic of Pepperdine, 8-7 (3).
The Cowgirls will continue play throughout the weekend, with four more Cowgirls beginning play on Tuesday.
