In the Polls
Oklahoma State is ranked No. 14 in the Associated Press poll and No. 12 in the Amway Coaches poll this week. Kansas is unranked in both polls. Since 2008, OSU has been ranked in the AP poll in 71 of its last 96 games.
Â
Oklahoma State from a Distance
The owner of an unblemished record through six games, Oklahoma State has excelled in three areas - disrupting the timing of opposing offenses, having a productive passing attack of its own and finding ways to win late.
Fueled by All-America candidate Emmanuel Ogbah at defensive end, the Cowboys rank among the national leaders in both sacks and tackles for loss per game as a team. While Ogbah (7.5 sacks and 11.0 tackles for loss) has garnered most of the attention, senior defensive end Jimmy Bean has been dominant in his own right, with 5.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss of his own, making the duo of Ogbah and Bean perhaps the most disruptive in all of college football.
Sophomore Mason Rudolph ranks among the national leaders with 315.3 passing yards per game, but for a player just nine games into his career, maybe the best attribute he has shown is poise and composure in the clutch, quarterbacking the Cowboys to three second half come-from-behind wins in six games this season. For perspective on Rudolph's 315.3 passing yards per game, Brandon Weeden is the only OSU quarterback ever to pass for more than 300 yards per game over the course of a season. Beyond Weeden, the next highest single-season per-game passing average mark for an OSU signal-caller is 241.9 yards by Josh Fields in 2002.
With 40 seconds remaining in each of its last three games, OSU didn't lead, yet the Cowboys found ways to win each of those three contests, with two of those wins coming on the road. Kicker Ben Grogan is a big part of that success, nailing a 41-yarder to bring the Cowboys into a tie with Texas with 1:33 left in the game, a 40-yarder to beat the Longhorns with six seconds remaining and a 37-yarder with 32 seconds left to erase a deficit and give OSU a win over Kansas State. Grogan is 10 for his last 10 field goal attempts overall, with three of those coming from 40 yards or farther.
Â
An Oklahoma State Win Would...
• Improve the Cowboys to 7-0, marking the third time under Mike Gundy that OSU would have a perfect record after seven games. The previous two occasions were in 2008 and 2011. For some perspective on that, OSU had only one 7-0 start in 103 seasons of football before Gundy took over in 2005. It came in 1945.
• Be the Cowboys' ninth consecutive win, dating back to last season, marking OSU's longest win streak since the Pokes rattled off 11 straight wins from Dec. 29, 2010 to Nov. 18, 2011. Nine straight wins would stand alone as the third-longest winning streak in school history. The Pokes won 13 straight from 1944-46 and 11 straight from 2010-11.
• Be the Cowboys' 11th in their last 12 meetings against Kansas.
• Improve the Cowboys to 44-5 in their last 49 games against unranked opponents, dating back to 2010.
Â
Streaks and Trends Entering the Kansas Game

• Oklahoma State has won its last eight games, dating back to last season.
• Oklahoma State has won 43 of its last 48 over unranked opponents.
• Oklahoma State has won its last 11 games when playing as a ranked team facing an unranked opponent.
• Oklahoma State's defense has recovered eight fumbles in its last four games.
• Oklahoma State's defense has held four of its last five opponents under 200 yards passing, and the lone exception during that time - Kansas State - barely eclipsed that mark with 207 yards through the air.
• Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah has at least one sack in 12 of the last 14 games.
• Emmanuel Ogbah averages more tackles for loss (2.2) and sacks (1.3) per game against Big 12 opponents than he did against non-conference opponents. During the non-conference slate, he averaged 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.2 sacks per contest.
• Defensive end Jimmy Bean has started 32 consecutive games, which equates to starting every game since the start of the 2013 season.
• Quarterback J.W. Walsh has accounted for at least one touchdown in every game this season.
• J.W. Walsh has posted a pass efficiency rating above 200 in each of his last four games.
• Safety Jordan Sterns has double-digit tackle totals in three of the last four games.
• Kicker Ben Grogan has connected on each of his last 10 field goal attempts.
• Oklahoma State quarterbacks have completed passes to at least 10 different receivers four times in six games this season.
• Dating back to 2005, the Cowboys have won 22 consecutive games when not committing a turnover.
• Dating back to the 2008 season, the Cowboys have won 41 of their last 43 games when winning the turnover battle.
