Ealey Highlights Day Two at Holiday Inn Invitational

Lincoln, Neb. -
The Oklahoma State track and field program provided its second record-breaking performance of the weekend on Saturday, as Chase Ealey recorded a new school record in the shot put at the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
Ealey's monster throw of 16.19m/53-1.5 exceeded the previous record of 16.16m/53-0.25, which was set by Halee Prickett at the KSU All-Corners meet in 2003. That mark gives Ealey the tenth-best mark in NCAA competition this season, while setting a new lifetime best for the junior from Los Alamos, N.M.
The performance comes less than 24 hours after OSU's John Teeters recorded the NCAA's number one time in the 60 meter dash.
"Chase has been very consistent with her technique, so we knew a PR was in the making," throws coach John Baumann said. "She will build from today's performance, and I see even bigger throws happening in her future."
The Cowboys continued their success in the sprints category by placing two in the final round of the 60 meter dash on Saturday. After posting top-eight marks in the preliminary section, Arlando Brewer-Johnson (6.92) and Sharod Selph (6.98) finished in sixth and eighth, respectively, in the finals.
Oklahoma State's men's side then provided a first-place finish in the distance medley relay, as Brigham Hedges, Lance Gray, Timauntay Jones and Chad Noelle combined to win the event with a time of 10:00.20.
In addition to Ealey's second-place effort, the 13th-ranked Cowgirls provided multiple top-five performances of their own, including Stephanie Ferrante's fifth-place finish (57.81) in the 400 meter dash. After taking first in the Cowgirls' season-opening meet, Viktoriia Sadokhina finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.87m/38-11.5, giving the sophomore her fifth top-five finish of her career in indoor competition.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will return to action on Jan. 23, as the teams compete at the DeLoss Dodds invitational in Manhattan, Kan.
