OSU Travels to Lincoln for Holiday Inn Invitational

The Oklahoma State men's and women's track and field squads will travel to Lincoln, Neb., Friday to compete at the Holiday Inn Invitational in the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Meet Format/Schedule
Friday's portion of the meet will begin with throwing events and jumps at 4 p.m., and will conclude with the 5,000 meter run at 8:50 p.m. On Saturday, action picks up at 11 a.m, and will extend through the meet's final event, set to begin at 5:20 p.m.

Last Time Out – K-State Winter Invitational
The Oklahoma State men's and women's track and field teams opened indoor competition on Saturday, Dec. 13, in Manhattan, Kan., where the squads competed at the K-State Winter Invitational.
Several members of both OSU groups led the way in their respective events, but Nick Miller's first-place performance in the weight throw highlighted the day. The Cowboy senior recorded a toss of 22.56m/74-0.25, breaking a meet record previously held for nearly 15 years. Itamar Levi provided fireworks in the throws category as well, as the 2014 Indoor All-Big 12 selection took first in the shot put with a mark of 17.72m/58-1.75.
In the jumps section, freshman Arlando Brewer-Johnson and newcomer Richard Smith tacked on first-place efforts in each of their OSU debuts. Brewer-Johnson topped the long jump pack with a leap of 6.81m/22-4.25, giving the Tulsa-native his first NCAA victory. Smith, who joined the Cowboys this season after posting three All-Big 12 performances at Kansas, took first in the triple jump with a mark of 14.25m/46-9.0.
On the track, Brandon Singleton and fellow Cowboy Tyler Jackson finished 1-2 in the 600 yard run, posting respective times of 1:13.78 and 1:14.13. In addition to his first-place finish in the long jump, Brewer-Johnson also posted a third-place mark of 6.91 in the 60 meter dash, a time that ranks third on OSU's all-time list of indoor records.
In total, the OSU men finished with 12 top-five finishes, helping the Cowboys win two of their three head-to-head duals.
The Cowgirls highlighted the day with 13 top-five finishes of their own, highlighted by first-place efforts from Viktoriia Sadokhina in the triple jump (11.80m/38-8.75) and Chase Ealey in the shot put (15.93m/52-3.25).
In the 300 meter dash, a quartet of Cowgirls finished in the top five, as Stephanie Ferrante, Summor Fields, Triana Browne-Hearrell and Cydney Crook finished in second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Ferrante and Fields were two of several Cowgirls competing in collegiate competition for the first time, including Leah Milteer, who finished fifth (7.96) in the 60 meter dash, and Jennifer Celis, who took second (2:54.61) in the 1000 meter run.
Multiple members of the OSU women's squad added their names to school record books as well, as Leah Milteer posted a mark of 7.96 in the 60 meter dash (9th all-time) and Ieva Zarankaite recorded a throw of 14.61m/47-11.25 in the shot put, good enough for sixth on the all-time list. Ealey's effort in the shot put also helped her set a new indoor best, which ranks second in OSU history.
Moving On Up
The Oklahoma State women's track and field team earned the No. 13 spot in the USTFCCCA National Preseason Rankings, giving the Cowgirls their highest ranking in school history.
The team's previous high mark came at the conclusion of the 2014 season, when the Cowgirls finished 15th at the NCAA Indoor Championships. At the meet, Savannah Camacho and Kaela Edwards finished second and third, respectively, in the 800 meters, helping Oklahoma State record its best finish ever at the national meet.
Star in Scotland
Last weekend, Oklahoma State cross country standout Cerake Geberkidane finished second in the men's junior race at the Great Edinburgh International Cross Country Meet, helping team USA win its first overall team title at the event.
Geberkidane, a freshman in his first season of collegiate competition, completed the 6K course in 20:07, besting several of the world's elite junior athletes. His second-place effort marked the first of five Americans finishing in the top six, helping Team USA win the junior competition on the way to an overall team title with 121 points.
Oklahoma State was also represented through the efforts of Dave Smith, who served as one of two American coaches. Smith also guided Team USA to team titles in the women's junior competition and the men's senior race.
Miller Smashes Meet Record
Oklahoma State's season-opening appearance at the K-State Winter Invitational was highlighted by one of the Cowboys' most decorated talents; senior Nick Miller. Miller took first in the weight throw with a toss of 22.56m/74-0.25, breaking the previous meet record (21.44m/70-04.25m - Jason Gervais, Wyoming, 1999) by almost four feet.
Rewriting the Record Books
At Oklahoma State's season-opening meet on Dec. 13, the Cowboys and Cowgirls saw success in a wide range of events, earning seven first-place finishes. Even more impressively, eight different members from the two OSU squads entered their names into the school record books.
True freshman Arlando Brewer-Johnson completed the 60 meter dash in 6.91 seconds, giving him the fourth-fastest mark in school history. He also navigated his way to No. 9 on OSU's all-time list of long jump performances, leaping a first-place mark of 6.81m/22-4.25.
In his OSU debut, Richard Smith dominated the triple jump with a mark of 14.25/46-9.0, earning him the fifth-longest leap in Oklahoma State history.
After recording a throw of 17.47/57-3.25 at last season's Big 12 Championships, Itamar Levi improved his indoor best in the shot put with a mark of 17.72m/58-1.75, helping him stay at No. 4 in the record books. Levi also improved his indoor best in the weight throw (15.73m/51-7.25), keeping him at No. 2 on the all-time list.
Charles Kammiller, a sophomore from Derby, Kan., finished just behind Levi in the weight throw category with a mark of 15.48/50-9.5, helping him maintain the third-best toss in school history.
In her collegiate debut, Leah Milteer blazed her way into the record books by recording a time of 7.96 in the 60 meter dash, giving her the ninth-best time in OSU history.
OSU throwing standouts Chase Ealey and Ieva Zarankaite each delivered indoor bests in the shot put. Ealey won the event with a mark of 15.93m/52-3.25, improving her previous high that stands at No. 2 on the all-time list. Zarankaite took third with a throw of 14.61m/47-11.25, earning her the sixth-best throw in school history.
