IRVING, Texas -
Oklahoma State redshirt freshman Luis Martinez has been named the Big 12 Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after winning the individual title at last weekend's Hurricane Festival, the conference announced today.
The Rio Rancho, N.M., native secured Oklahoma State's 5-0 duel mark at the event with a first-place time of 20:05. Martinez grabbed the top time in only his second collegiate cross country event and was one of four Cowboys to finish in the four-mile race's top 10.
Martinez's honor marks the first time an OSU runner has won the award since David Osborn took the weekly accolade on Sept. 17, 2013.
The Cowboys return to action on Sept. 13, when OSU competes at the Bluegrass Festival in Lexington, Ky.
