Cowboys Sixth At Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened the fall portion of its schedule on Friday at The Carmel Cup with a 2-over-par 362 to stand in a tie for sixth place at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Playing the 6-count-5 format with just five players, the Cowboys finished the day tied with South Caroline and a shot out of third place at the par-72, 6,828-yard layout. Georgia posted an 8-under 352 to lead the field by three shots.
Vanderbilt's Hunter Stewart and Georgia's Lee McCoy shared the individual lead with both players posting 5-under 67s.
OSU sophomores Zachary Olsen and Wyndham Clark finished the day in the top 10, signing for 1-under 71s to come in tied for ninth place.
Redshirt freshman Stratton Nolen posted an even-par 72 in his first collegiate round to stand in a tie for 19th place, while true freshman Sam Stevens carded a 73 in his debut to tie for 23rd place.
Redshirt freshman Brendon Jelley turned in a 75 to finish the day tied for 39th place.
The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 7:20 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Vanderbilt, South Carolina and TCU.
