STILLWATER, Okla. -
Oklahoma State assistant track and field coach Diego Flaquer has been named the sprints coach for the Colombian national team at the IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships, it was announced this week.
Flaquer, who is entering his second season as the OSU sprints coach, will coach the Colombian men's and women's sprinters at the event, scheduled for Tuesday through Sunday in Eugene, Ore.
In Flaquer's first year at OSU, the Cowboys had one of their best sprint seasons in recent memory. Under his guidance, Tyreek Hill set school records in the indoor 60 meters and 200 meters, claiming the conference title in the 200 and finishing as runner up in the 60. He was joined as an indoor All-Big 12 performer by John Teeters. Hill also finished as an All-American in the 200 meters with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Teeters was also an all-conference performer in the 100 meters at the 2014 Big 12 Outdoor Championships, and followed that by winning the NCAA West Preliminaries and earning honorable mention All-American honors at NCAAs.
This marks the second time Flaquer has served as a coach at the international level. He also coached the Colombian national team at the 2011 Pan American Games.
