STILLWATER - Oklahoma State women's tennis freshman Viktoriya Lushkova was officially named to the 2014 ITA Division I Women's All-America Team, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Thursday.
Lushkova advanced to the round of 16 in this year's NCAA Singles Championship with straight-set wins over 42nd-ranked Laura Antonana Iriarte of San Diego State and No. 14 Olivia Janowicz of Florida to clinch the All-America honors. The freshman became the first Cowgirl to be named an All-American in singles since 1987.
To earn All-America status in singles, a player must be a top 16 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship, reach the round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship or finish in the Top 20 of the final ITA National Singles Rankings.
Lushkova is one of only eight freshmen to be named an ITA Women's Division I All-American this season and one of only two Big 12 freshmen to earn the honor.
