BIRMINGHAM, England – Oklahoma State's Nick Miller took first place in the hammer throw Saturday at the Sainsbury's British Championships, winning the senior-level national event with a throw of 73.96 meters.
Miller, a three-time All-American in the hammer throw and two-time All-American in the indoor weight throw, edged out a competitive field in which three athletes surpassed the 73-meter mark. His distance was one of the best of his career, just short of his personal best of 74.38 meters.
The Carlisle, United Kingdom native finished as runner-up at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2014, throwing 72.40 meters and holding the lead for the majority of the meet. He eclipsed the 70-meter mark in six meets last season.
