On how he got into football
“It was just big time in my town. You just grow up wanting to play football, and I'm pretty aggressive. That was the best way I could be aggressive and not get in trouble.”
On what has had the biggest impact on his football career
“My football career, it's basically self-driven. I have family members who play, and I even have a few in the league, but they weren't really directly involved with me. I just loved football; it was a good getaway for me. It was something that I was naturally good at.”
On why he chose to walk-on at Oklahoma State
“I actually saw them playing on TV one day, and I didn't even know they existed. They just looked like a humble team. I saw instantly that they would be a team that would accept me without being cocky and what-not. It seemed like a place where I would fit in. I am majoring in Agriculture-Business, so that was perfect to go along with it."
On the life of a walk-on at OSU
”It's a long, tough journey. It has a lot to do with timing and luck. You just have to be prepared at all times, because you don't know when your chance or opportunity is going to occur. That's the hardest part. You have to be ready.”
On his personal goals
“I want to at least start on all of the special teams. I put up a pretty good spring. I ended the spring with more interceptions than the rest of the safeties. I want to be in the fight to be at least second string at safety, if possible first; but I know there's going to be a lot to overcome being a walk-on and what-not. I believe the defense is going to carry the team this year. My goal is to put in time and to work and to help my team.”
