FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -
Oklahoma State's Chad Noelle and Tyler Payton registered the No. 2 and No. 4 800 meter times, respectively, in OSU history, and Monika Juodeskaite earned a major personal best in the 1,500 meters at the Arkansas Invitational, in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday.
Noelle (1:48.62) and Payton (1:49.17) were already in decent position to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminaries in the 800 meters, but solidified their positions with personal-best times to finish third and fifth, respectively. Noelle now ranks No. 6 in the West and Payton sits at No. 10.
In the 1,500 meters, Justin Vilhauer took second place with a personal-best time of 3:45.59. He now occupies the West's No. 45 spot in the event. The top 48 marks qualify for the West Preliminaries.
OSU also picked up a pair of throwing event wins as Itamar Levi (18.21m/59-9) threw a personal-best mark to win the shot put and Nick Miller (68.86m/225-11) won the hammer throw.
On the women's side, Monika Juodeskaite (4:19.58) and Clara Nichols (4:27.79) each ran personal-best times to take first and third, respectively, in the 1,500 meters. Juodeskaite now ranks 11th in the West in the event and fourth on the OSU all-time list.
The Cowgirls picked up three more event wins as Bailey Johnson won the 400 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:00.83, Ieva Zarankaite (51.09m/167-7) won the discus and Chase Ealey (15.59m/51-1.75) won the shot put.
