STILLWATER - Oklahoma State junior centerfielder Shelby Davis, senior pitcher Simone Freeman, sophomore third baseman Tiffany Mikkelson and sophomore utility player Danielle Riddle were all named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Midwest Region softball team, it was announced today.
This is the first selection to the all-region team for all four Cowgirls. Davis was named to the first team after a career year for OSU. Freeman and Mikkelson were both named to the second team. Freeman, the Sydney, Australia, native went 21-17 in the circle for the Cowgirls, while Mikkelson started 53 games at third base.
Riddle was a third-team selection. This season, the Muskogee, Okla., native split time in right field and as the designated player for the Cowgirls.
The four Cowgirl honorees are the most for Oklahoma State since 1998.
The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2014 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
