STILLWATER - Oklahoma State women's tennis players Viktoriya Lushkova and Kanyapat Narattana picked up Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Awards for their efforts this season, the ITA announced Tuesday. Lushkova was named the ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year, while Narattana was selected as the region's Most Improved Senior of the Year.
Lushkova's award comes at the heels of the freshman earning a handful of Big 12 Conference honors, including Big 12 Freshman of the Year and All-Big 12 in both singles and doubles. Lushkova was also selected to compete in the 2014 NCAA Singles Championships later this month. The Ukrainian freshman has posted a 17-4 singles mark and an 18-5 record in doubles in her first semester at Oklahoma State.
Narattana turned in an exceptional year in her final season as a Cowgirl. In her senior season, Narattana notched a 24-14 overall record in singles and a 22-10 overall record in doubles. Last fall, the senior rolled through the ITA Central Region Championships to take home the regional singles title and become the first Cowgirl ever to compete at the National Indoor Championships, where she advanced to the round of 16. Narattana will finish her career with 73 career singles victories, good for fifth in the record book for total career singles wins in the Big 12 era. Narattana also posted 73 career doubles victories, which puts her in sixth place for total career doubles wins in the Big 12 era.
Lushkova will travel to Athens, Ga., to compete at the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Singles Championships. The tournament is set to begin May 21.
