Juodeskaite Takes Second At Arkansas Invite

Monika Juodeskaite placed second in the 1,500 meters to lead the OSU track & field teams at the Arkansas Spring Invitational, in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday.
Juodeskaite, whose specialty is the longer distance races, showed she can still compete in the middle distance events as well, running a 4:32.25 to take second in the event.
“This was a great race for Monika, considering she usually runs longer distances, she has been focusing on strength work and it was her first outdoor meet of the season,” OSU assistant coach Mason Cathey said. “A performance like this will help her in the longer races, like the last 1,500 meters of a 5,000 meter race. She will know she can finish strong.”
On the men's side, Tyler Payton led the way for the Cowboys, taking second overall in the 800 meters, with a time of 1:51.93. Ryan Wheatley won section two of the event, finishing in 1:53.55.
On the west coast, at day two of the Stanford Invitational, in Stanford, Calif., Clara Nichols finished fourth in the women's 800 meters. Her time of 2:06.83 was just off her personal best by 0.27 seconds.
In the women's triple jump, Viktoriia Sadokhina finished in second, with a jump of 12.78m/41-11.25.
OSU track & field will return to action next Saturday, April 12, at the John McDonnell Invitational, in Fayetteville, Ark.
