Cowgirls Drop Pitching Duel to Tulsa, 1-0

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning, and Oklahoma State fell to the 18th-ranked Golden Hurricane 1-0 here Wednesday evening here at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
Tulsa (46-5) scored the lone run of the game when Jill Barrett led the game off with a single and with two outs, scored on a double by Julie Kernen.
After the first inning, Cowgirls starter Simone Freeman (20-14) settled in and threw five scoreless innings, allowing just two base runners, both walks, after the second. She gave up one run on four hits and striking out seven in the contest. Aimee Creger (24-1), Tulsa's starter in the circle, threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out nine.
Tarah Ettinger went 2-for-2 in the game, recording both of the Cowgirls' hits.
The Cowgirls (25-24) return to action this weekend when they travel to College Station, Texas, for the final non-conference game of the year. In a game added to the schedule, OSU will face Texas Southern on Friday at 4:30 p.m., followed by the regularly scheduled game vs Texas A&M at 7 pm. The Cowgirls and Aggies will also play Saturday at 4 pm.
