Cowgirls Travel to Austin to Face Longhorns

STILLWATER — The Oklahoma State softball team heads to Austin, Texas, this weekend for a three-game Big 12 conference series against the Texas Longhorns. Friday's game will begin at 4:30 pm, Saturday's contest is scheduled for 4 pm, and the final contest of the three-game series will take place at 11:30 am on Sunday.
Texas (28-18 overall, 7-3 Big 12) leads the overall series with the Cowgirls, 25-13. However, Oklahoma State won last season's series in Stillwater 2-1 over the sixth-ranked Longhorns.
Junior centerfielder Shelby Davis leads the Cowgirls (24-21, 4-9) offensively. She leads the Big 12 in hits (65) and stolen bases (37), and ranks seventh in the league in batting with a .399 average. Sophomore third baseman Tiffany Mikkelson ranks sixth in doubles (11) and seventh in walks (25).
Senior Simone Freeman ranks among the league's top-10 pitchers in several statistical categories, including strikeouts (first with 249), innings pitched (first with 204-1/3), complete games (first with 19), wins (second with 19), earned run average (seventh with a 2.09 ERA), starts (third with 32), and shutouts (fifth with four).
