Cowgirl Equestrian Earns NCEA Postseason Honors

WACO, Texas – Five members of the Oklahoma State equestrian team received National Collegiate Equestrian Association postseason awards, the league announced Saturday.

Senior Lauren Halvorson was named to the NCEA All-Championship Horsemanship Team after going 2-0 during the tournament. Against SMU in the quarterfinals, Halvorson posted an impressive 151-144.5 victory over Hannah McCain. In the semifinals, she defeated Anna Sasser in a close matchup, 148.5-147.5. The four-time All-American finishes the season with 11 wins and two Most Outstanding Performer awards.

Junior Lindsey McMullen also garnered NCEA All-Championship Horsemanship Team honors with two wins at the tournament. McMullen tallied a 138.5-110.5 victory against SMU's Jaclyn White in the quarterfinals and recorded a 150-140.5 win over Georgia's Heather Schmidt in the semifinals. The two-time All-American finished the season with a 12-3 record and one Most Outstanding Performer award.

Senior Jenna Blumer earned NCEA All-Championship Reining Team accolades thanks to her two victories during the tournament. In the quarterfinals, Blumer defeated SMU's Kristen Schramm, 142-135, and in the semifinals, she outrode Georgia's McKenzie Lantz, 142-141. The three-time All-American also ends the season with a 12-3 record and three Most Outstanding Performer awards.

Sophomore Justine Peters was also named to the NCEA All-Championship Reining Team after going 2-0 during the tournament. Peters earned the highest scores for the Cowgirls in the event in both days of tournament play. Against SMU in the quarterfinals, she posted a 144-139.5 victory over Jaclyn White and in the semifinals, she defeated Charley Thiel, 143-136.5. The All-American recorded a 13-2 record this season and garnered two Most Outstanding Performer honors.

Also, Larry, one of the OSU reining horses, was awarded Reining Horse of the Year.
