Camacho Claims Top-Three NCAA Time in California

WALNUT, Calif. -
Oklahoma State's Savannah Camacho ran the third-best 800 meters in the NCAA to date on the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays, in Walnut, Calif., on Saturday.
Camacho's run, a 2:02.84, earned second place in her heat, behind a professional runner, and ninth in the event. Her time ranks No. 3 in the NCAA and is the second-best 800 meters in school history.
In the men's weight throw, Nick Miller launched a 70.84m/232-05, which was good enough for fourth, but was the top collegiate mark in the event.
At the John Jacobs Invitational, in Norman, Okla., Tyler Payton (48.12) led the way on the men's side with a win in the 400 meters.
Itamar Levi took second in the shot put, with a toss of 17.44m/57-2.75.
On the women's side in Norman, the Cowgirls picked up eight event wins. On the track, Ambra Wesley (55.87), Adela Hofmannova (2:11.95) and Caileigh Glenn (4:30.07) won the 400 meters, 800 meters and 1,500 meters, respectively.
Gintare Zenkeviciute (10:07.94) won the 3,000 meters, Kate Kujawa (10:40.72) took the victory in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and Bailey Johnson ran a personal-best 1:01.49 to win the 400 meter hurdles.
In the field events, Jordan Highsmith registered a mark of 11.26m/36-11.5 to win the triple jump, and Ieva Zarankaite won the discus with a mark of 53.87m/176-9.
OSU track & field will return to action next weekend, April 24-26, at the Drake Relays and Penn Relays.
