Cowgirls Set to Battle Red Raiders

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State's softball team returns to Big 12 Conference action this weekend as the Cowgirls travel to Lubbock, Texas, for a three-game series against Texas Tech at Rocky Johnson Field. The series begins Friday at 7 p.m., with Saturday's contest slated for 2 p.m., and the series finale scheduled for Sunday at noon.
Oklahoma State is coming off a 7-4 victory over North Texas on Wednesday night, improving the Cowgirls' record to 22-16 overall. They are 2-5 in Big 12 Conference action, and face a Red Raider squad that is 28-14 overall and 1-5 in league play.
Junior centerfielder Shelby Davis leads OSU offensively. She ranks third in the league in batting with a .417 average. She leads the Big 12 in hits (60) and stolen bases (33). Sophomore 3B Tiffany Mikkelson ranks fourth in doubles (10), eighth in walks (23) and ninth in runs batted in (29).
Senior Simone Freeman ranks among the league's top-four pitchers in several statistical categories, including strikeouts (first with 211), innings pitched (second with 170-2/3), wins (tied for second with 17), earned run average (third with a 1.52 ERA), complete games (third with 16), starts (third with 26), and shutouts (fourth with four).
OSU leads the all-time series over the Red Raiders, 34-15, including a 12-8 mark in Lubbock. The Cowgirls won the series last season in Stillwater, taking 2-of-3 games from Texas Tech.
