Twenty-Four Cowgirls Named to 2014 NCEA Academic Teams

STILLWATER – Twenty-four members of the 2014 Big 12 Champion Oklahoma State equestrian team were named to the 2014 National Collegiate Equestrian Association Academic Teams, the league announced today.
Senior Jenna Blumer was one of 13 nominated for the NCEA Elite Equestrian Student-Athlete Award.
Blumer, Lauren Halvorson, Allison Joyce, Katy Krshka, Lindsey McMullen, Paris Nottingham, Ty Paris, Justine Peters and Erin Willoughby received First Team honors.
Maggie Gampfer, Samantha Harrison and Ali Rose earned Honorable Mention.
Blumer, Margaret Botkin, Brenna Brawner, Rebecca Buchanan, Marissa Dalton, Halvorson, Emily Hartley, Olivia Hupy, Allison Hurlbut, Joyce, Krshka, McMullen, Lindsey Morris, Nottingham, Paris, Peters, Kaitlyn Skog, Eleanor Sparks, Kaitlin Townsend, Amy White and Willoughby were named to the Honor Roll.
To qualify for the Academic first team, a rider must have competed in 70 percent of her team's meets and must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5. To qualify for the Academic second team, a rider must have competed in 60 percent of her team's meets, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25. To earn honorable mention Academic honors, a rider must have participated in 50 percent of her team's meets and must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
The NCEA Academic Honor Roll recognizes the top academic student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25.
The Cowgirls will travel to Waco, Texas, for the 2014 NCEA National Championship on April 17-19 at the Extraco Events Center and will face the winner of New Mexico State and SMU in their first match.
