Softball Set for Mid-Week Bedlam Match-Up

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State softball team travels to Norman, Okla., Wednesday for a mid-week matchup against No. 15/22 Oklahoma at Marita Hynes Field. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
The Cowgirls (19-14, 0-3 Big 12) look to rebound this week after coming off an 0-3 weekend.
Overall, the Sooners (24-8, 3-0) lead the all-time series, 75-71 with OU sweeping the Cowgirls last season. OSU looks to snap a six-game losing streak against the Sooners.
Offensively, the Cowgirls are hitting .301 as a team. Coming off a monstrous weekend when she hit .611, Shelby Davis continues to lead Oklahoma State in batting average (.402), at-bats (127), hits (51), triples (one), on-base percentage (.433), total bases (57) and stolen bases (27). Tiffany Mikkelson leads the team in doubles (nine), runs batted in (28), walks (17) and slugging percentage (.542). Tarah Ettinger leads the team with five home runs, and Ari Morrison is first on the squad with 24 runs scored.
In the circle, senior Simone Freeman (14-7) has a 1.49 earned run average. She's started 22 games and has made a total of 27 appearances, registering 14 complete games and four shutouts. In 145.2 innings, she's given up 44 runs and struck out 187. Whitney Whitehorn (4-5) sports a 2.49 ERA in 10 starts. In 44 innings, she's allowed 23 runs and struck out 21 batters.
The Cowgirls continue to hold spots in the Big 12 statistical rankings. Davis leads the conference in hits, ranks second in stolen bases and eighth in batting. Mikkelson ranks fourth in doubles and eighth in RBIs.
Freeman is second in the conference in strikeouts. She ranks third in ERA, innings pitched, complete games and opponent batting average (.176), and ranks fourth in appearances, games started and shutouts. Meanwhile, Meagan Lively is second in saves.
Nationally, Freeman is fourth in the country in total strikeouts with 172, while Davis ranks eighth in stolen bases.
