Softball Hosts Central Arkansas in Mid-Week Tilt

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State softball team returns to Stillwater this Wednesday, March 26, to take on Central Arkansas in a mid-week non-conference tilt. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
The 18-11 Cowgirls are coming off a weather-shortened weekend when they went 1-1.
OSU is 3-0 all-time against Central Arkansas (14-20). The Cowgirls last defeated the Bears, 3-0, in the first game of the season in Baton Rouge, La., at the Tiger Classic.
Offensively, the Cowgirls are hitting .303 as a team. Shelby Davis continues to lead Oklahoma State in batting average (.367), at bats (109), hits (40), stolen bases (23) and runs scored (22). Tiffany Mikkelson leads the team in doubles (seven), runs batted in (25), walks (17), slugging percentage (.554) on-base percentage (.437) and total bases (46), and is tied with Tarah Ettinger with four home runs.
In the circle, Simone Freeman (13-6) has a 1.34 earned run average. She's started 19 games and has made a total of 23 appearances, registering 13 complete games and four shutouts. In 125.2 innings, she's given up 36 runs and struck out 166. Whitney Whitehorn (4-4) sports a 2.26 ERA in nine starts. In 40.1 innings, she's allowed 20 runs and struck out 20 batters. In recent games, Meagan Lively has come up strong for the Cowgirls. In 15.1 innings, she is 1-1 with a 3.20 ERA. She has allowed eight runs and has struck out 22.
The Cowgirls continue to hold spots in the Big 12 statistical rankings. Davis is second in stolen bases with 23 and is eighth in hits. Mikkelson ranks seventh in both walks and RBIs.
Freeman is second in the conference in strikeouts. She is third in ERA, wins, shutouts, opponent batting average (.166), innings pitched and complete games. She ranks fourth in appearances and games started.
Nationally, Freeman is fourth in the country in total strikeouts with 166, while Davis ranks ninth in stolen bases.
