Cowgirls Fall to Tigers, 2-1

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Oklahoma State softball team dropped a pitching duel to No. 18 Missouri here Saturday afternoon, dropping a 2-1 decision at the Mizzou Tournament at University Field.
The Cowgirls (18-11) jumped on the board first in the top of the first inning when Shelby Davis led the game off with an infield single. Later in the inning, Tarah Ettinger laid executed a perfect suicide squeeze, scoring Davis and putting OSU up 1-0.
Missouri (21-7) tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning when Taylor Gadbois scored from third on a ground out by Emily Crane.
The Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Crane scored on a sacrifice fly by Kelsea Roth to put Missouri up 2-1. The Tigers would win by that final score.
Starting pitcher Simone Freeman (13-6) pitched six innings, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out three.
At the plate, the Cowgirls had five hits. Freeman went 2-for-3. Ettinger went 1-for-4 with a run batted in and Davis went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Gessenia DeLaCruz also had a hit for the OSU.
Due to frigid temperatures, the Cowgirls game Sunday morning against North Dakota State has been canceled. OSU will return to action Wednesday, March 26, when they take on Central Arkansas in Stillwater. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
