Elser Finishes Second at Collegiate Equitation Challenge

WELLINGTON, Fla. - Oklahoma State equestrian rider Sammy Elser finished second and earned Reserve Champion honors at the Winter Equestrian Festival Collegiate Equitation Challenge on Friday in Wellington, Fla.
The day began with 16 NCEA and IHSA riders competing in a head-to-head competition over fences.
In the opening round, Elser, the hunter seat senior, defeated Caitlin Ader of TCU in a close matchup, 73-70.
In the round of eight, Elser scored an 85 on her way to an 85-70 victory over SMU's Juliana Fisher.
In the round of four, Elser faced off against Hannah Williams of Texas A&M and tallied an 80-75 score to move to the final round of the tournament.
In the final round, Elser lost to South Carolina's Katherine Schmidt, 83-80.
Elser and the rest of the Cowgirl equestrian squad will return to action Feb. 15 in Stillwater against No. 4 Kansas State at 10 a.m.
