STILLWATER -
In a vote by the league's coaches, the Oklahoma State women's tennis team has been selected fifth in the 2014 Big 12 women's tennis preseason poll, it was announced today.
The Cowgirls picked up 49 points in the poll, 10 points behind fourth-place Oklahoma. Baylor is the favorite to win the conference for the second time in three years after receiving nine first-place votes to earn the top spot. The Texas Longhorns are the only other team in the poll to receive a first-place vote, garnering one.
The Cowgirls return three players from last year's team that finished fifth in the Big 12 and advanced to the conference championship with tournament wins over TCU and Baylor.
The Cowgirls return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host No. 49 Wichita State at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater at 1 p.m. CT. For more updates and information, fans can follow @CowgirlTennis on Twitter.
