Harrison & Fugitt Named Riders of the Month

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State equestrian riders Samantha Harrison and Mackenzie Fugitt were named National Collegiate Equestrian Association Riders of the Month for January, it was announced today.

Harrison, Fugitt and the Cowgirls competed on Jan. 31, a road contest against Delaware State. Harrison dominated in both the equitation on the flat and over fences disciplines. In the equitation event, she defeated Haley Jeske, 94-71, the highest score tallied by a Cowgirl this season. In the over fences discipline, Harrison picked up an 89-71 victory over Emily Fick.

The scores earned her Most Outstanding Performer honors in both disciplines. Harrison is 8-4 overall this season.

Fugitt earned the accolade in the reining discipline after her 71-68.5 win over Darby Mailhot. The victory marked her first Most Outstanding Performer award of the season.

The No. 6 Cowgirls (4-2) face No. 4 Kansas State (7-3) on Saturday, Feb. 15, in Stillwater at the Animal Science Arena.
