Adamovic, Tur Mari Finish Big at Dickie V Classic

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - Cowgirl Tennis sophomore Katarina Adamovic took home the women's singles title of the Dickie V Clay Court Classic, while teammate Carla Tur Mari won the consolation singles bracket on Sunday.
Adamovic faced Florida's Spencer Liang in the main draw singles semifinals, where she picked up a win in three sets. The Cowgirl dropped the first set that went to a tiebreaker, but sailed through the next two sets, giving up only four games to move on to the finals, 6-7(6), 6-2, 6-2. In the finals, Adamovic met up with No. 89 and top-seeded Brenda Woolcock of Florida. She wrapped up the tournament in style, winning the first set, 6-4, and shutting out her opponent in the second set, 6-0.
In the backdraw of the singles bracket, Carla Tur Mari faced Quetzali Vazquez from North Florida in the finals, where the sophomore Cowgirl dominated, taking the match, 6-2, 6-2.
In the doubles portion of the tournament, Adamovic teamed up with Vladica Babic to take on the No. 2-seed duo of Liang/Stojic in the main draw finals. The Cowgirls were not able to keep up and were defeated, 8-1.
The tournament wrapped up the Cowgirls' fall action. The OSU women's tennis squad will start the spring campaign on Jan. 17 in Stillwater, Okla., when it faces San Jose State and Louisiana Tech in a double header.
