Lushkova and Laurente Advance to Doubles Semifinals

NEW YORK CITY – Oklahoma State's Viktoriya Lushkova and Kelsey Laurente advance to the UTSA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship's doubles semifinals on Friday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The duo went head-to-head with Florida's Brooke Austin and Courtney Keegan in the quarterfinals. The Cowgirls took the first set, 6-4, before falling in the second, 7-6(4). The match was forced to a 10-point tiebreaker, where the Cowgirls won the last six points to seal the victory and move on to the semifinals.
Lushkova and Laurente will continue play on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT.
In singles, No. 8-seed Lushkova started the day with a win in singles to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. She faced Caroline Price of North Carolina, who took the first set 7-5. Lushkova stormed back in the second set, 6-2, to force the match to a third set. Maintaining her momentum, Lushkova sealed the win with a 6-3 win in the final set.
The All-American dropped her second match of the day after a tough battle against No. 4-seed Brooke Austin of Florida. Lushkova won the first, 6-4, but was bested by the Gator in the second and third sets, 6-1, 6-4.
