Lushkova/Laurente Duo Earn Spot in Quarterfinals

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Viktoriya Lushkova and Kelsey Laurente earned a pair of upset wins on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals in the doubles main draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Women's Championships.
In the first round, the No. 27 Cowgirl tandem defeated No. 20 Beazant and Zimmerman of Rice, 6-4, 7-6(4). The win pitted the Cowgirls against the nation's No. 4 team of Kyle Phillips and Catherine Harrison of UCLA in the second round. Lushkova and Laurente had an impressive showing, dominating the Bruins in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-2.
The Cowgirl duo will face No. 15 Davidson and Zhao of Stanford on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals.
In the singles main draw, No. 26 Lushkova was bested by ninth-ranked Silvia Garcia of Georgia. The Cowgirl kept the match close but lost in two sets, 7-5, 7-6(5).
