OSU Cross Country Has 16 Named Academic All-Big 12

Sixteen members of the Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country teams have been selected as members of the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country Team, the conference announced today.
Nine were selected on the men's side, and seven received first-team honors: redshirt seniors David Osborn and Nick Thorp, juniors Brian Gohlke and Craig Nowak, sophomore Matthew Fayers and redshirt freshmen Noah Gade and Luis Martinez. Fellow redshirt freshmen Brigham Hedges and Alexander Johansson earned second-team recognition, helping the Cowboys lead the conference with nine selections.
On the women's side, seniors Caileigh Glenn, Adela Hofmannova and Monika Juodeskaite, redshirt sophomores Natalie Baker and Janelle Martinez and redshirt freshman Emily Helms were named to the first team, while sophomore Gintare Zenkeviciute earned second-team honors.
Baker, Glenn and Gade each posted a perfect 4.0 GPA en route to their respective selections.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify for the Academic All-Big 12 team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
