Cowgirls Take On No. 4 Baylor in Waco

The Cowgirl equestrian team will open up Big 12 competition this Saturday, Oct. 18, when they travel to Waco, Texas, to take on the 4th-ranked Baylor Bears at 10 a.m.
About the Cowgirls
The Cowgirls (1-0) are led by 16th-year head coach Larry Sanchez, eighth year assistant coach Kayla Hrencher and second year assistant coach Stacy Sanderson. The Cowgirls are coming off a 16-4 victory over South Dakota State in Stillwater on Sept. 27, at the Animal Science Arena. The Cowgirls are competing on the road for the first time this season, but the squad notched a 5-4 record away from home last year.
About the Bears
The Bears (3-0) are led by eighth-year head coach Ellen White, western coach Cindy Walquist and assistant hunter seat coach Anna Schierholz. The Bears are coming off a 14-1 win over SMU in Waco on Sept. 27. The Bears are undefeated at home so far this year, notching a 3-0 mark at the Willis Equestrian Arena.
In the NCEA Rankings
The Oklahoma State equestrian team remains ranked at No. 2 in this week's team rankings released by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association on Tuesday.
Three Big 12 teams currently reside in the top five of the rankings, with Kansas State behind the Cowgirls at No. 3 and Baylor sliding into the No. 4 spot this week. Big 12 foe TCU is slotted at No. 7. Georgia remains atop the rankings this week at No. 1.
Last Time Out
The Cowgirls opened up their 2014-15 campaign last month with a 16-4 win over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in Stillwater. Senior Katy Krshka picked up where she left off last season and posted a strong effort, picking up Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) honors in both of the western events. Freshman Kendall Pedigo garnered MOP honors in equitation for her first ride as a Cowgirl. Amy White earned MOP in equitation over fences.
An Oklahoma State Win Would...
• Mark the first time since 2007 that the Cowgirls won their first road meet of the year.
• Mark the first 2-0 start for the Cowgirls since 2011.
• Be the Cowgirls' third-straight win over the Bears.
• Be the Cowgirls' first win on the road since their win over SMU in the NCEA Championships.
• Push the Cowgirls' record against Baylor to 17-6.

The Series
The Cowgirls lead the series over the Bears by a margin of 16-6, with Oklahoma State's last win coming on March 29, 2014, in the Big 12 Championship meet in Waco. In the meet, the Cowgirls edged Baylor, 10-9, to take their third-consecutive Big 12 title. The Cowgirls are 3-5 in regular-season matches in Waco.
2013-14 Wrap-Up
The Cowgirls are coming off a successful 2013-14 season that saw the team take home its third-straight Big 12 championship with a win over Baylor in the conference championship match in Waco, Texas. The 2013-14 roster boasted seven All-Americans, five All-Big 12 recipients and four riders on the All-NCEA Championship Team.
Cowgirls At Home
The Cowgirls are currently riding an impressive 12-meet winning streak in Stillwater. The last time the Cowgirls lost within the confines of Animal Science Arena was Nov. 3, 2012, in a 10-9 loss to TCU.
Oklahoma State currently holds the second-longest active home winning streak in the nation with 11 wins. Kansas State currently holds the longest home winning streak in the nation with 15-straight home wins.
