Cowgirl Equestrian Takes Down Hornets, 16-4

The No. 7 Oklahoma State equestrian team kicked off its spring season with a dominating win over Delaware State, 16-4, garnering all four Most Outstanding Performer awards.
The hunter seat team picked up its third win of the season, 9-1, over the Hornets (2-6). The Cowgirls (3-2) are now 3-2 in the division and have only allowed six points in its last three matchups.
The equitation over fences squad kicked the day off with a 5-0 sweep of Delaware State. Senior Samantha Harrison earned her third win of the season with an 89-71 win over Caroline Schock and the first Most Outstanding Performer award for her on the year. Senior Sammy Elser and Junior Maggie Gampfer also had dominating performances, picking up scores of 87 and 84, respectively.
The equitation team picked up where it left off in the fall with its third straight win, 4-1. Harrison scored the highest tally of the season by any Cowgirl with her 94-71 win over Haley Jeske. The win gave her a second Most Outstanding Performer award on the day. Freshman Jorden Davis remained undefeated as she defeated Caroline Schock, 90-68.
The western team improved to 5-0 with a 7-3 win over the Hornets. In reining, the Cowgirls swept the match, 5-0. Senior Mackenzie Fugitt earned a Most Outstanding Performer award for her 71-68.5 win over Darby Mailhot. Senior Jenna Blumer also scored 71.5 points in her 71.5-70 point win over Kali Voshell. The reining team is now 3-2 on the season.
The horsemanship squad suffered its first loss of the season, 3-2, moving to 4-1 this season.
However, this discipline was highlighted by Junior Katy Krshka's 73.5-71 win over Cailynn Fedorkowicz. The score earned her Most Outstanding Performer honors, her fourth of the year. Junior Lindsey McMullen also picked up a victory over Brooke Moore with a score of 72. Krshka and McMullen are undefeated this season in the Horsemanship division.
The Cowgirls have a quick turnaround as they face No. 2 Auburn on Feb. 1 at 9 a.m. in Dover, Del.
