Cowgirls Fall to No.15 Northwestern, 4-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - Oklahoma State's women's tennis team dropped its first match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend to 15th-ranked Northwestern, 4-0, on Saturday.
The Cowgirls dropped matches on doubles courts two and three to give the Wildcats the doubles point. Cowgirls Viktoriya Lushkova and Katarina Adamovic fell to Northwestern's Maddie Lipp and Nida Hamilton, 6-3, in the second spot. Belinda Niu and Brooke Rischbieth clinched the point for Northwestern when they knocked off Oklahoma State's Karyn Guttormsen and Maria Alvarez on three.
In singles, Northwestern took a 2-0 lead when Cowgirl junior Karyn Guttormsen was knocked off by Lok Sze Leung on four, 6-0, 6-1. That lead was stretched to three when Oklahoma State sophomore Maria Alvarez fell to Jillian Rooney, 6-2, 6-0, on six.
The match was decided when Cowgirl Kanyapat Narattana was downed by Northwestern's Veronica Corning on one, 6-1, 6-1.
The Cowgirls will return to the Combe Tennis Center on Sunday morning to face the loser of today's match between No. 21 Notre Dame and No. 26 Arizona State.
