STILLWATER -
Oklahoma State men's cross country is still the No. 1 team in the nation, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, released today.
This is OSU's fifth-straight week at No. 1, dating back to last season. This is the Cowboys' second-longest stint at the top, behind an eight-week stay at No. 1 in 2011.
The Cowboys received 11 of the 12 first-place votes this week, one more than in the preseason poll.
“It's great to be recognized for the hard work we're doing,” OSU coach Dave Smith said. “We'll take the ranking for what it is—a ranking. We still have plenty of work to do to get to where we want to be. It's a long season.”
On the women's side, OSU slid one spot, to No. 22. This is the Cowgirls' fourth-consecutive week to be ranked in the top 25, dating back to last season.
OSU cross country will be in action on Sept. 28, when it hosts the 76th-annual Cowboy Jamboree, in Stillwater.
