STILLWATER, Okla. -
The Oklahoma State equestrian team will enter the 2013-14 season ranked as the No. 4 team in the nation, according to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Preseason Rankings, the NCEA selection committee announced Monday.
The Cowgirls enter the season as the reigning NCEA Western Champion and two-time Big 12 Conference champions and are the highest ranked Big 12 team.
OSU will return four of its top five western riders and all seven All-Americans from last season.
NCEA rankings will be released twice per month, with the next announcement coming Monday, Sept. 30.
The 2014 NCEA Championships take place April 17-19 in Waco, Texas, marking the first year one championship will be contested, rather than separate championships by disciplines.
The Cowgirls will open the 2013-14 season on Sept. 28 when they travel to Manhattan, Kan., to take on No. 5 Kansas State. The meet is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at the Timbercreek Stables.
