Oklahoma State Post-Game Notes vs. Lamar
Boone Pickens Stadium - Stillwater, Okla. - Sept. 14, 2013
:: Today's attendance of 59,061 set a Boone Pickens Stadium record, surpassing the previous high of 58,895 against Kansas State in 2011.
:: OSU has now won 18 consecutive home openers. The Cowboys' last home opening loss came in 1995 to Nebraska.
:: The Cowboys have started the season 3-0 six times in nine seasons under head coach Mike Gundy.
:: Serving as OSU captains for today's game were Justin Gilbert, Josh Stewart, Tyler Johnson and Deion Imade.
:: Freshman Paul Lewis made the first start of his career today, starting at right guard. Lewis is the seventh different Cowboy to make his first-career start this season.
:: With their 59-point effort, the Cowboys have eclipsed the 50-point mark 25 times during Gundy's tenure as head coach.
:: OSU now has at least one touchdown drive of less than two minutes in 25-straight games. The Cowboys had three such drives today.
:: The Cowboy offense is 15-of-15 on red-zone opportunities this season, with each of the scores being touchdowns.
:: Senior tailback Jeremy Smith tied a career-high with three rushing touchdowns. It marked the fifth multi-rushing TD game of his career.
:: Smith has 31career rushing touchdowns, good for seventh on OSU's all-time list.
:: Ben Grogan's 39-yard field goal in the second quarter was the first of the freshman's career.
:: Junior Josh Stewart ranks ninth on OSU's career receiving yards list. He finished with three catches for 49 yards against Lamar and now has 1,686 in his career.
:: With "only" three receptions, Stewart had a streak of games with at least four catches snapped at 15.
:: Stewart's 67-yard punt return for a touchdown marked OSU's first punt return for a score since Josh Cooper had a 66 yarder against Troy on Sept. 11, 2010.
:: Stewart finished with 114 punt return yards, the eighth-highest single-game total in OSU history.
:: For the second-straight week, OSU had 13 different players catch at least one pass.
:: OSU has not given up a touchdown to an FCS opponent in 13-plus quarters dating back to the third quarter of the 2008 game vs. Missouri State. The Cowboys held Grambling out of the end zone in 2009 and did that same to Savannah State last season.
:: Lamar was 7-of-23 on third down conversions. OSU has held its three opponents this season to 15-of-53 on third down, a success percentage of just 28.3 percent.
:: OSU held Lamar to just 245 yards on 77 plays, an average of 3.2 yards per play. That's the lowest output by a Cowboys' opponent this season.
:: Sophomore linebacker Kris Catlin recorded a career-high seven tackles against Lamar, topping his previous best of three against Savannah State last season.Oh
