STILLWATER - Larry Sanchez, head coach of the Oklahoma State equestrian team, announced today the hiring of Stacy Sanderson as the assistant hunter seat coach. Sanderson comes to Stillwater after three seasons at Baylor in the same capacity.
In her first season with the Bears, she led the hunter seat team to a third-place finish at the NCEA National Championships, a record high at the time for Baylor Equestrian.
The next year, she led the hunter seat team to Baylor's first-ever national championship, which was the first hunter seat NCEA title for any Big 12 school. That year, she also became the first recipient of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Coach of the Year award.
Sanderson has developed successful competitors at all levels. Before arriving at Baylor, she and her husband, David, had owned and operated Hunter Lane, Inc., in Ocala, Fla., for 12 years. They have been professionals in the equine industry for more than 15 years.
"I am really looking forward to the future with this addition to our staff," Sanchez said. "Stacy has had tremendous success coaching at the collegiate level and is a great fit for our program."
