Clarkson Unable To Advance To Steeplechase Final

EUGENE, Ore. -
Oklahoma State's Fabian Clarkson fell short of advancing to the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase final on day one of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, in Eugene, Ore., on Wednesday
Clarkson, who needed to finish in the top five of his heat to automatically qualify, was in fourth place through three laps, but was unable to finish the race. Three weeks ago, he ran a personal-best 8:43.73 in Austin to qualify for the semifinal.
The OSU men's and women's track and field teams will resume action at the NCAA Championships tomorrow, starting at 3:30 p.m. CT, with the hammer throw, featuring Cowboy Nick Miller, who is ranked No. 1 in the nation.
