Two Cowgirls Advance At Public Links

NORMAN, Okla. - Two members of the Oklahoma State women's golf team advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship on Tuesday at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
Rising sophomore Julie Yang and Kelsey Vines, a senior for the Cowgirls this past season, both finished among the top 64 through 36 holes of stroke play to advance. Yang posted rounds of 70 and 72 to finish tied for fourth place at 2-under 142. Vines tied for 17th place at 147 after carding rounds of 75 and 72.
Yang, who won't turn 18 until later this summer, is competing in the event for the fifth time. She previously played in the event in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012. This year marks the third time she has advanced to match play.
Vines is competing in the Public Links for the seventh year in a row and has now advanced to match play in each of the past three years.
Vines will take on Clariss Guce in the first round with their match slated to start at 11:57 a.m., while Yang will take on Lakareber Abe at 12:42 p.m.
