STILLWATER — Tarah Ettinger, a junior on the Oklahoma State softball team, has been named a first-team All-Midwest Region selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, it was announced today. She was chosen at the designated player/utility position.
Earlier this week, Ettinger was named the utility player on the All-Big 12 Second Team. She was the Big 12 Player of the Week during the final week of the regular season for her performances against sixth-ranked Texas. Her two-run home run in the second win over the Longhorns proved to be the game winner, one of five game-winning RBIs she had on the season.
The Plainfield, Ill., native led the Cowgirls in several statistical categories, including batting average (.327), at-bats (162), hits (53), home runs (10) and runs batted in (42). She also led OSU in total bases (92) and slugging percentage (.568). She started 32 games this season as the designated player and another 23 at first base.
With Ettinger's accolade, Oklahoma State has now had at least one all-region softball selection in 25 of the past 26 seasons, dating back to 1987. A total of 70 Cowgirls have been named all-region, including 46 first-team honorees.
