Cowboys Move Into Eighth In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded a 7-over 295 during its second round on Saturday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters to move into a tie for eighth place at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Through 36 holes, the Cowboys stand at 591, 15-over, and tied with Duke at the par-72, 7,510-yard layout. California fired an 8-under 280 to build a commanding 10-shot lead over Alabama, ending the day with an 11-under 565 total.
A pair of players lead the individual race at 5-under 139. Stanford's Patrick Rodgers and Alabama's Cory Whitsett are two shots clear of the field heading into tomorrow's final round.
OSU freshman Jordan Niebrugge wrapped up the day tied for 18th place at 146 after following an opening 74 with a 72.
Junior Ian Davis posted the squad's low round with a 70 that included five birdies. His 2-under score moved him into a tie for 23rd place at 147.
Sophomore Patrick Winther's 75 gave him a 149 total and knotted him for 36th place, while junior Talor Gooch dipped into a tie for 54th place at 152 after signing for a 78.
Senior Sean Einhaus carded a 79 to stand at 153 and tied for 61st place.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 8 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Texas A&M and Duke.
