Cowboys Finish Third At Don Puckette Invite

TUCSON, Ariz. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team closed with a 293 on Sunday during the final round at the Don Puckette National Invitational Tournament to slip into third place at Omni Tucson National Golf Club.
The Cowboys began the day with a one-shot lead over TCU, but dipped into third place with their 5-over closing score. OSU finished at 12-under 852, while the Horned Frogs were the event's runner-up at 845. New Mexico moved to the top of the leaderboard at the par-72, 7,094-yard layout with a 279 to finish at 844.
TCU's Julien Brun carded a 75 during his third round to claim medalist honors at 8-under 208.
Jordan Niebrugge led the Cowboy starting five, tying for seventh place at 211. The OSU freshman closed with a team-low round of 71 to get to his 5-under score and earn his second top 10 in his last three starts.
Junior Ian Davis finished in a tie for 14th at 214 after posting a 78 during his third round. Davis was joined at 214 by sophomore Patrick Winther, who closed with a 73.
Junior Kevin Dougherty signed for a 74 to stand at 219 and tied for 35th place, while classmate Talor Gooch finished tied for 39th after a 75 gave him a 220 total.
The Cowboys will be back in action on March 23 when they begin play at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga.
