OSU Equestrian Signs Nine During Fall Signing Period

STILLWATER, Okla. -
The Oklahoma State equestrian team has signed nine high school seniors in the class of 2014, head coach Larry Sanchez announced today.
"We are very excited about this class of recruits," Sanchez said, "They will bring a wealth of experience to our team and each has the winning attitude that we want. I am looking forward to our future with the addition of these talented young ladies."

Kaitlyn Arnold
Joining the Cowgirls next fall is Austin, Texas native Kaitlyn Arnold. Kaitlyn was the 2013 Texas Hunter Jumper Association Junior Hunter Champion. She was also the 2013 THJA Junior Medal Reserve Champion and qualified for both the Maclay and USEF finals. Kaitlyn also won the 2013 Pin Oak USEF Medal and has already qualified for the 2014 Maclay finals. In addition to her commitment to riding, she has played on her varsity basketball team for three years and is a member of the National Honor Society. Kaitlyn is the second member of the Arnold family to compete on the OSU equestrian team. Her sister Erin rode for OSU and is the graduate assistant for the team.

Carly Barrick
Fallbrook, Calif., native Carly Barrick joins the Cowgirls next fall. Carly has many prestigious wins to her credit. She won the Victor Hugo-Vidal Equitation Medal Final, the Lioncrest Hunter Derby and the Zone 10 Stirrup Cup Medal Final to name just a few. She was also fourth in the Junior Jumper Classic at HITS Thermal and was sixth in the West Coast Junior Hunter Finals. Carly has been very competitive for many years as she qualified for the 2012 Maclay Finals and won the Greater San Diego Medal Finals at the age of 12.
Danielle Cohen
AQHYA World Champion Danielle Cohen from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will join the western squad for the 2014-15 season. Danielle won the World Championship in Reining at the 2011 AQHYA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City. In addition to her World title, Danielle was the 2011 USEF Champion at the National Reining Breeders Classic and was the Affiliate Finals Reserve Champion in 2010. At the 2013 AQHYA World Championships, Danielle earned her way into the Reining Shoot-out on a four-year-old gelding that she trained herself.

Libby Collins
Carrollton, Texas resident and American Paint Horse Association World Champion Libby Collins secured her spot on the Cowgirl roster through her successes within APHA. Libby was the APHA Congress Champion in both Trail and Horsemanship and was the Reserve Champion in Hunter Under Saddle. She was also the APHA World Show All-Around Novice Youth, securing World Championships in Working Hunter and Hunter Hack. Libby also placed in the top five at the APHA World Show in Youth Showmanship and Trail. Libby also had success in other breeds and was the 2012 POAC National Champion in Horsemanship, Open Jumping and Hunter Hack and was the Reserve National Champion in Senior Reining and Senior Trail. In addition to her riding skills, she is the AJPHA National Director for Zone 4 and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Ebba Lange
The first European rider to join the Cowgirl roster is Ebba Lange from Gnesta, Sweden. Ebba has been very successful in equestrian competitions in Europe and the United States in multiple events throughout her youth career. She was a member of the 2010 Swedish AQHYA World Cup Team placing third in Western Riding, fifth in Western Pleasure, eight in Western Horsemanship and 10th in Hunt Seat Equitation. Ebba placed sixth in the Reining at the 2013 AQHYA World Championships and placed in the top five in 2012. She was also the 2013 Swedish Champion in reining and was the 2013 APHC Youth World Champion in Western Pleasure.

Kristin Hull
Ligonier, Ind., World Champion Kristin Hull signed with the Cowgirls and will join the hunter seat squad next fall. Kristin has qualified and competed in the USEF Medal Finals and also qualified for the Maclay Finals. She has won multiple AQHA World Championships and multiple All American Quarter Horse Congress Championships in the over fence classes. Kristin not only excels in the riding arena but also in volleyball where she helped her team to a second-place finish at the Indiana State Volleyball Championship.

Madelyn May
Madelyn May, of Austin, Texas, will join the Cowgirl roster next August. Madelyn qualified for the 2013 USEF Medal Finals and was the top equitation rider at the Pin Oak charity Horse Show Series. She was also the 2012 Central Texas Hunter Jumper Association (CTHJA) Junior Hunter and Equitation Summer Circuit Champion and was third in the CTHJA Year End Standings in both Hunter and Equitation. She was also the 2012 3' Medal Finals Winner.

Kendall Pedigo
Joining the Cowgirl roster from the west coast is Vancouver, Wash., native Kendall Pedigo. Kendall is a three-time qualifier and competed in the USEF Talent Search East and West Coast Finals. She is also a three-time qualifier for the ASPCA Maclay Finals. She received the OHJA perpetual trophy, the Kubicek Cup, in 2012 for being the High Point Equitation rider. Also in 2012, she was seventh at the Maclay regionals, third in the Pessoa/USEF Hunt Seat Medal regionals and was overall Champion in OHJA Large Junior Hunter 16-17, Equitation 16-17 and Young Jumpers (1.30 m).

Julia Purus
Purcell, Okla., rider Julia Purus, formerly of Ancramdale, N.Y., joins the Cowgirl roster next fall. Julia is a four-time Affiliate Year End Youth Champion and has earned over 470 National Reining Horse Association youth points. She won the 2013 NRHA Derby High School Reining Championship and was in the top 10 in the 2012 NRHA 14-18 World Standings. Julia was also in the 13 and under NRHA World Standings in both 2009 and 2010. In addition to her successes in the riding arena, Julia has been on the principals honor roll throughout high school and is a member of the National Honor Society.
