OSU Head Coach Jim Littell
On Liz Donohoe reaching 1,000 points for her career
"You know, that's a milestone for any basketball player in any program. To score 1,000 points is a testament to your ability, the commitment you have to the program and the time you've put in. I'm very happy for Liz, and I hope she scores a lot more for us. She has put in a lot of time on her game, and she has spent a lot of hours in the gym shooting the basketball. Anybody that can get to the 1,000 point plateau, that's a career milestone."
On Brittney Martin's production
"She was hurt in the preseason, but she is going to score some points for us. She's a talent, and she's put in extra time on her game as well. She was missing some shots earlier that she doesn't normally miss, and we've done some individual work with her mainly by putting in 20 to 30 extra minutes of work each week. It has paid big dividends for her. She played very well last game against USC, and I thought she came out big tonight. She was a bright spot in the first half when we were kind of flat. She got us the lead that we did have."
On what the team can improve on despite putting up good numbers tonight
"There's no question that we could shoot the ball better from the three and from the free throw line. We had good numbers shooting 53 percent overall, but 28 percent from the three has got to improve. We had some key kids throw some shots up that they've got to make, and we've got to be better at the free throw line. We gave up 29 points off of turnovers, which is way too many for any team. We have to value the basketball more, and the 17 turnovers has got to go down as well before we get into these four games that we're getting ready to play."
Forward Liz Donohoe
On achieving 1,000 career points
“It's cool. I didn't really know it was coming. It's a great accomplishment and a great accomplishment for our team because I can't score any of those points without the other four players and without the bench cheerleading. It's a team goal not just mine.”
On Tiffany Bias having 12 assists and improving her passing game
“I think it's just good decision making. Sometimes we all get caught up in the game and on the transition. Sometimes we all take bad shots but she does a good job of distributing the ball and getting it to the players that are open. She continues to get better at that.”
Guard Brittney Martin
On expecting to put up points in bunches after both USC and UMass Lowell
“I don't really look forward to doing that I just go out and play. If it comes, it comes. I wouldn't say I am expecting to but I would like to.”
On what they can learn from this game
“I think we can learn because in games like this you have to learn to not play to their level. We have to learn how to play to our level. I think we learn to rise above the other team's play. Even if you don't play as hard on defense because the girls don't drive by you as fast, I think we learn to play to our abilities no matter what the competition is.”
