STILLWATER -
Oklahoma State men's cross country has been pegged as the No. 1 team in the nation for the eighth-straight week, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, which was released today.
OSU's eight straight weeks at No. 1 ties its longest stint at the top in school history—The Cowboys were ranked No. 1 for eight-straight weeks in 2011 as well.
On the women's side, OSU slid one spot, to No. 19. This is the Cowgirls' first time to be in the national top 20 in back-to-back weeks since 2006.
“It's been great to see the men at the top and the women moving into the top 20 this season,” OSU coach Dave Smith said. “Hopefully they use the rankings as motivation to perform at a high level and back up those rankings as we move further along in the season.”
OSU cross country will be back in action Oct. 19, when the teams travel to the Pre-National Invitational, in Terre Haute, Ind.
