STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State softball team wraps up its 2013 fall slate this weekend when the Cowgirls travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in a doubleheader on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Bogle Park. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
The Cowgirls (5-1) take on their second-consecutive NCAA Regional participant in the Razorbacks (2-2), after splitting a series with Tulsa last weekend.
Pitching continues to highlight the Cowgirls' fall play. Senior Simone Freeman sports a 3-0 record with an impressive 0.50 earned run average in her three starts. In 18 innings, she has allowed only two runs to cross the plate on seven hits. Freeman has struck out 37 batters while walking only four. Freshman Meagan Lively (2-1) has also had an impressive fall. In 20 innings, she sports a 1.80 ERA, allowing four runs on 10 hits and striking out 33 in the process.
Offensively, the Cowgirls have been impressive as well. Sophomores Tiffany Mikkelson and Shianne Hughes lead the way for OSU. Mikkelson, in her 16 at-bats, has registered seven hits, three doubles, five RBIs, and 10 total bases, along with a .438 batting average. Hughes is hitting .615 in 13 at-bats. In those plate appearances, she has collected eight hits and has scored five runs. Sophomore Michaela Patton, while only registering eight at-bats, is 6-for-8, with a .750 average and five RBIs.
With the conclusion of the doubleheader, the Cowgirls wrap up their fall slate and will return to the diamond when the regular season begins in February. Until then, fans can keep up with Cowgirl softball through okstate.com or on Twitter at @CowgirlSB.
