Two Cowgirls named ITA Scholar-Athletes

STILLWATER, Okla. - Two members of the Cowgirl tennis team, Leyla Simmons and Allison Burckhartt, have been named Scholar-Athletes by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, it was announced today.
Both Burckhartt, a Nutritional Sciences major with an option in Allied Health, and Simmons, a pre-med student majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, earned a 4.00 grade point average.
To earn the title of ITA Scholar-Athlete, a player must meet a certain set of criteria. The player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.
The team opens up its fall schedule on the weekend of Sept. 21 in Kansas City at the Missouri Aces for the Cure Tournament.
